What's the ASD?

Do you know what the acronym ASD means?

ASD means DISORDER OF THE SPECTRUM OF AUTISM.

Knowing their meaning and characteristics is very important, so we will understand and know the reason for the differences. This will help us make group integration easier, how to act and even how to approach people with ASD.

Autism is a condition that affects the way a person views the world, processes information and acts with other people. It is difficult for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders:

  • Develop social relationships: Difficulties in this area can arise in different ways depending on the person: from showing little interest in others and prefer activities alone, to a passive acceptance of others.
  • Communicate: these people often have difficulty understanding and expressing oral messages. Many people with ASD lack language and have "comprehension" problems. difficulties to establish eye contact and to understand the gestures and postures of others. Nor do they understand sentences with double meaning, jokes, metaphorical language, so that even those who have adequate verbal skills may have problems to correctly follow a conversation.
  • Although a group of people with ASD has learning difficulties, others have intellectual abilities equal to or higher than the average.
